Maple 8.62

Maple Editor's Review

Did you ever feel you couldn't get organized the way you wanted? Well Maple is a document manager which will help you by storing any information you need, into a hierarchical tree. You can populate each node of the tree with objects, pictures, text or links to files on your hard disk.

Each tree node can be expanded, collapsed, renamed or copied. Its content can be edited in a window that looks like a text editor. On the program's toolbar you have buttons for adjusting the text size, style, weight and many more. Also, you can insert tables which you can fill with any kind of data.

This program can protect your data by encrypting it and by asking you to set a password. The password is used if you want to open or modify the file. Printing any part of your tree is also supported. Maple also has a built-in Spell Checker, Clipboard Viewer, Character Map, and a function for changing the case of text to all upper or lower.

Pluses: You can use the program's search function to find text within all the documents. Documents can be exported in rich text, DOC or HTML file format.

Drawbacks / flaws: I wasn't able to import some of my Microsoft Word documents.

In conclusion: Maple has the ability to store documents in a database with a hierarchical data structure represented by a file with .mpl extension.
